New York City, NY Montessori Model UN (MMUN) honored Emmy® Nominee and humanitarian singer-songwriter Alexander Star by naming a Teaching Scholarship after him in recognition of his healing musical work in Rwanda, the inner cities of the US and MMUN. “Next year, a deserving teacher will receive a scholarship for MMUN training, so that he or she can effectively introduce a global curriculum into their classroom and have the opportunity to have their
students participate in MMUN conferences,” stated MMUN Executive Director Francesca Forestieri.
MMUN’s Founder and Chief Strategy Officer Judith Cunningham presented Alexander Star with his new namesake scholarship on stage immediately following his performance at the conference’s Opening Ceremony. Over 2,000 MMUN participants witnessed the presentation, which was followed up at its Closing session in the historic United Nations General Assembly Hall with all 2,000 joining in an emotional acapella rendition of Star’s theme song, “This Is My Era”.
