Delegate Safety: New Policies Moving Forward

Share

Delegate safety is MMUN’s first priority at a Conference. As the conferences have grown in the number of delegates, we have reflected on how to ensure a safe, engaging experience for all delegates without imposing a strain on schools and coordinators.

The outcome is the following policy changes:

  1. A maximum of 35 delegates may be associated with a single, certified teacher coordinator. When you register, you will be required to provide more than one certified teacher coordinator for each conference group with more than 35 students;
  2. Chaperone to Student Ratio: Ensuring more chaperones to students  1 chaperone for each 8 students for upper elementary and 1 chaperone to 15 delegates for middle school;
  3. A mix of male and female chaperones for all delegations with male and female delegates.
  4. MMUN suggested content for a preparation session for chaperones prior to the conference to help them understand the full ramifications of their responsibilities, duties and accountability for students.

We believe that the implementation of these policy changes will help to bring peace of mind and reassurance to your school families and conference teams.
