Checklist for MMUN Coordinators

Use the checklist below to help you prepare your students for MMUN.

1. Committee: The correct committee is shown and spelled correctly

2. Topic: The full name of the topic is shown

3. Country: The full official name of the country is shown

4. Student name: The full name of the student writing the paper is shown

5. School name: The full name of the school is shown

Position Paper – Heading Section

6. Background paragraph

7. Country's current position

8. Suggested resolution items has international focus and are within UN's scope

9. Justifications and Summary

Position Paper – Body Section

10. Page length – 2 pages or more for middle school students, 1 page or more for upper elementary students

11. Citations - where references are cited and listed use the Modern Language Association (MLA) format in the position papers.

Position Paper – Mechanics

12. Spelling correct

13. Grammar correct

14. Capitalization correct

15. Punctuation correct

16. Sentence and word meaning correct

17. Logical paragraphs and transitions

18. Speech has been written

19. Edited by advisor

20. Rewritten speech submitted and approved

21. Practice speech in front of MMUN delegates (timed)

22. Reduce length of speech if it is longer than a minute

23. Practice committee protocol and vocabulary

Opening Speech

24. Clothing guidelines reviewed

25. Research portfolio organized, including printed position papers and opening speeches

26. Flags created

27. Country posters created
